And it’s easy to install yourself, usually in 30 minutes or less.

Eco Temperatures
The Nest Thermostat can use sensors (sold separately) and your phone’s location to check if you’ve left the house. Then it can set itself to an Eco temperature to save energy.
HVAC Monitoring
HVAC monitoring looks out for many heating and cooling system issues. If something doesn’t seem right, your thermostat can send you an alert.* If you need to replace your air filter, you’ll get a reminder. And you can book a visit with a Nest Pro right from the alert.

Quick Schedule
The Nest Thermostat comes with Quick Schedule. When you set up your new thermostat, you can easily customize your schedule. And you can always adjust it from the Google Home app.
Easy to Install
Installation usually takes 30 minutes or less. Just follow the simple step-by-step instructions in the Google Home app. For most homes, there’s no C wire required, which makes installation even easier.*
*The Nest Thermostat is designed to work in most homes without a common (C) wire. Installing a new C wire may be required with heat-only or other systems. See g.co/nest/cwire for details.
Easy to Use
Just swipe the touch bar on the side of the Nest Thermostat to change the temperature, and tap for settings.
Voice Control
Just say, “Hey Google, turn up the heat.” The Nest Thermostat works with Hey Google on your phone and Nest speakers, and displays. It also works with Alexa on other smart devices.
Sustainability
The Nest Thermostat is designed with recycled materials to reduce waste. Its plastic parts contain 49 percent recycled post-consumer plastic.

System Compatibility
Before you purchase your Google Nest Thermostat, use Google Nest's compatibility checker. to make sure your heating and cooling system(s) are compatible.
What's a C-Wire?
The Google Nest Thermostat is designed to work without a C-wire. However, in some cases, a C-wire may be needed.
A C-wire (common wire) is a low voltage power wire that many modern thermostats require for their features to work. Many older homes don’t have a C-wire because mercury and battery-powered thermostats didn’t require one.
The Nest Thermostat works with most 24V heating and cooling systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, and heat pumps with either forced air or radiant delivery.
It works with conventional systems that have one stage of heating and cooling and a second stage of either heating or cooling. It works with heat pumps that have one stage of heating and cooling and either aux or emergency heat. And it works with HVAC fans.
The Nest Thermostat is designed to work if your home doesn’t have a common (“C”) wire. In some cases, particularly if you have a heating- or cooling-only system or use a zone controller, a C wire or other power-supply accessory may be necessary.
